Dec 10, 2015I've buylisted to CFB numerous times and their grading is tough but ultimately fair. If your stuff is really NM, you don't need to worry about it. They've graded some of my cards down from what I expected, but it's still the best overall buylist value (and experience; they're really easy) that I know of.Posted in: Store Discussion

Is a T2 Eidolon ever the WRONG play?
I'd hit a 1/2 (or 2/3 with an instant already in the graveyard) Tarmogoyf with a Searing Blaze rather than cast a T2 Eidolon. Having a hard time thinking of many other examples.

By no means is Mana Leak a strictly inferior option to Remand at all. In fact, I would recommend playing Mana Leak even if you own Remands.
It's not that Mana Leak is a bad card, but Remand is better in this deck. Being able to Remand your own spells, stall out your opponent, and especially draw a card are all hugely important in playing Mono-U Tron. All Mana Leak does is counter an early game spell. Remand gives you much more options both as a counter spell but also a cantrip.
What this guy said. Also, Remand is especially good in Tron because we're (hopefully) getting further ahead on mana than our opponents. If Remand basically says "no, play that spell next turn instead," we have the opportunity to set up Tron the next turn and either play one of our massive threats or make Condescend/O-Stone/Spell Burst go live.

At a five-player table with no one out yet, I was playing Riku of Two Reflections. I had been targeted since the beginning of the game because Riku of Two Reflections (which is a perfectly acceptable reason). I had a Prophet of Kruphix, Riku, and some land on board but an empty library (the Mirko Vosk player had successfully milled my entire library into my graveyard off of a Traumatize, Mind Grind, and other mill) and the rest of the table left me for dead to lose on my draw step.
On my turn, I used Genesis's upkeep trigger to return Eternal Witness from my graveyard to my hand. Still on my upkeep, before proceeding to my draw step, I flashed in the Witness (using Prophet) and copied it (using Riku) to recur Palinchron and Comet Storm from my graveyard, made infinite mana using Palinchron and Riku, and (still on my upkeep) killed the table with an arbitrarily large, multi-kicked Comet Storm. I'm a bad person.
Jan 17, 2015This ability seems like it could definitely go in White (Mistveil Plains) or even be worked into just about any color (Tel-Jilad Stylus). It would feel wrong to me in Black or Red (Black isn't squeamish about death and would probably prefer to use the graveyard as a resource; Red simply doesn't plan that far ahead and isn't so "conservative"). Green would want it on living things, Blue would want it on abstract ideals, White would want it on just about everything. Maybe put it in Green, White, and Blue but "centered" in White; Green could have it on creatures, Blue could have it on instants and sorceries, White could have it on anything.Posted in: Custom Card Rulings
Nov 17, 2014TeamSqueak posted a message on Looking for deck suggestions to play in restrictive local leagueI'm pretty sure a Sharuum combo deck wouldn't violate any of the stated rules (its combo runs on repeated triggered abilities rather than activated abilities or casting spells) and could function on <5 lands with enough mana rocks while having early access to disruption & removal.Posted in: Commander (EDH)

I believe you're thinking of Guardian Games. It's a great store.
While in Oregon, you should also stop off in Eugene or Springfield. There's a shop in Springfield with EDH on Tuesdays and Saturdays and a shop in Eugene with EDH on Thursdays. Your trip sounds awesome and I hope you make it to Eugene/Springfield!
