To be fair, his listings neither look hand painted nor are listed as such. He mentions acrylic paints in his line about commissions, but that doesn't seem misleading to me; he's talking about contact for commissions not products being auctioned. He mentions lithographic printing in the same line.

I mean, I don't make money pursuing any artistic endeavors, and the efforts in this thread seem especially to avoid the possibility of counterfeit. I would be more worried about running an umezawa's jitte that was not legit than about how it looked.

Edit: also btw very nice work ondal, that ritual was always my favorite. If only they were holding their secret meeting in a pool of blood, they would be blacker than anything.

Also, ">"]D. Alexander Gregory does boss work with shading, I love his blues. He isn't the most complicated artist in the multiverse, but I definitely think he's one of the more unique ones.

I see a lot of people around here who apparently assume some art for MtG is done in 3D and then worked over with digital tools like Photoshop.

The art for Novablast Wurm is 100% digital painting, there are no 3d rendered elements involved. Yes, some people are good enough to produce a sense of depth that's that good.

I also can't understand how can anyone call any pieces by Komarck crappy or bad. Opinions may differ, but those works are absolutely stunning in therms of technical capability.

Hmm. I admit that I was quite harsh in my judgement. I think that it is better than the digital art from torment, but looking at it again now that I'm not just home from work, I feel that the perspective is what ruins it for me. It feels like I'm looking at a tiny snake guarding something. Probably if I saw one in person it would look good, but on my computer screen it doesn't. Let's say I have a problem with the focus and not the style.

    Island:

    Aaaaaaand HeartStabber Mosquito

I just had a spontaneous thought i want to do an island (then realised i had no tape, so i rubbed the edges off a bit) figured a basic art and tried a new style or colour grading.

Then i did a HeartStabber Mosquito with a new style as well the loose-lined kinda cartoon basic feel.

    COMMENTS are welcome Grin

are those all color pencil, or are is there any other medium used? My gf would love the mosquito, so cute!

Hey guys, maybe this is or isn't the place for this, but does anyone know where to get some world championships deck singles? Or even how much they're worth? I mean, they aren't tournament legal anywhere.

Had another shot at the scoria cat; Also, the mess on the red border is from erasing the ink that was on there previously, I was afraid to remove it further. I feel like the new paint is still too vibrant, the colors too rich, but maybe it's just me. Also, do you guys remove the glossy layer from the art if you're going to keep the original art, or do you just paint onto it?

Those pictures, while exposing the flaws, give us so much more information. Pens are pretty tough to get a good color match with unless you are using high end markers like Copics or even Prismacolor. At that point, you should just buy paint (because it's awesome). Aside from material concerns, I think you might benefit from taping the edges before you go at it. The easiest way to keep edges clean is to never get them dirty. And if you do, try the dm toothpick approach. I've fixed a lot of hopelessly filthy cards by just rubbing the dirt off with a toothpick. You can even get pen off if you are careful.

Yeah, I showed my mom and she was like hmmmm....maybe you should try paints next time. lol even mom knows. By dirty edges, do you mean the inside border or the frame? If you mean the frame, they're dirty because I've had those cards for a decade and I didn't play with sleeves in high school. If you mean inside the red border, yes. I probably should have thought of that, but I'm mostly doing this while waiting for audio work to pick up; visual art is a little lower on my talent scale.

Also: on your black and white Inkwell Leviathans, what medium did you use?

The unaltered scoria cat is on the left, obv, and the altered cat is on the right. Scanning it in made me sad cause it looks crappy now, but it should be clearer. I don't know how to achieve color blending or diffusion well with pens, and I know I went out of the borders on the bottom left.

btw galspanic what is wrong with the golden girls

Ok, decided to give it another try. I understand that you guys are serious artists who use acrylics and brushes, but not everyone is making money from this. I decided to extend scoria cat who has a special place in my heart, so here is what it looks like. I don't have a nice camera, this was taken with my phone. One of the obvious failings is the lack of ability to go more gray with the blacks; I am searching for a diffuser to deconcentrate the ink so much. Other than that, it looks good in a sleeve and is obviously gold bordered and not an attempt to produce counterfeit cards and make money.

Here is a first draft, and I feel subpar about it. I wanted to avoid messy paints and sisyphean efforts to make it perfect but I feel like I have violated all that is good and pure. I didn't erase the original art for this, and it is only an approximation. If anyone else uses sharpie, are there any good blending techniques?

Also I used pure yellow for the eyes and it looks really weird in person, like it's a stag with headlights or something.
