Im not lambasting him. Im not saying he's a bad player. He just asked if I thought the list he posted was different from the one at the 5k. I told him yes the monogreen without GSS would have alot more trouble with Jund and if you maindeck 4 GSS the matchup becomes much more in your favor.

I am just going to out on a limb right now and say they 3 nissa decks in the top 8 have GSS maindecked.

Come back and mock and insult me if I'm wrong.

    Mock/insults go here.

There was a GW Eldrazi deck. Oh snap. Splashed for Path. Guess how many GSS maindecked? 0? And not even 4 in the board (3 to be fair)?

In fact, the other two lists ran 3 in the main as well.

No.. what you said was this:

you are playing against nubs who are running different deck lists from the 5k.

Aaaand you don't even know the 5k Jund list. Someone posted on the other 5k list that their group's modified Jund list (changed from the Philly 5k list) beasts the Nissa Monument matchup 70/30.

In short, yes, frychikn's list is suboptimal. [EDIT: Oh he also had it in the board. So if Nissa Monument rolls Jund with GSS mained, should he still go 2-1?] But you can't say either A) what list the jund decks he played ran or B) what the Nashville Jund lists ran.

And why do you call Vampires twilight.dec? Respect other players and just call it what it is.

I tested it against Jund from the last 5k that people at the card store netdecked so the jund from this 5k might have changed, but im guessing it didnt because honestly in jund what is there to change, add more terminate, fleshbag maindecked, run burst lightnings, the jund basis imo is pretty much the same with a few tiny changes

I wasnt testing top 8 nissa list because I dont know what it is. How could I know the top 8 nissa list 3 weeks before the nashville 5k? I was just testing my own mono green eldrazi jund, which is much worse without the nissa and elf synergy, but still had a very favorable matchup vs jund.

Maindecking GSS, that is the moral of the story here. Try it.

So pretty much what your saying is..

The extent of your testing was a Monument list that wasn't the one at Nashville against a Jund list that wasn't the latest.

I mean, I agree that GSS is great against jund. But I don't see why you're lambasting this dude for saying he just tested a list when you haven't tested it either.

I am debating by saying it's likely the 5k lists ran 4 maindecked GSS, which really changes the jund matchup and the deck this guy is running doesnt even have GSS maindecked. At worst GSS is a 3/3 for 3. At best and against popular decks like Jund, GSS is very difficult to deal with. 4 maindecked GSS would change his results vs jund alot. I have been playing monogreen eldrazi without the elf theme and nissas for 3 weeks with stuff like river boas and thornling instead, it does very well vs jund, about 70/30 simply because maindecked GSS and river boa and thornling. but bad vs most other decks so not worth playing imo

The Nissa/chosen engine+Nissa's lifegain should improve the Jund matchup even more-assuming 4 GSS are also run. Indestructables and GSS gives jund fits. Turning all your stuff indestructable, and being able to gain lots of life every turn with Nissa, is something else hard for jund to deal with. Jund is a good deck but not absolutely amazing like alot of people on here think, just like this green Nissa deck is good but not absolutely amazing, its just a good matchup vs 2 popular decks twilight and jund.

Okay.. that's all cool. Did you test the Top 8 Jund list against the Top 8 Nissa Monument list?

If you did, please share more. Since I don't know whether we have official confirmation of either list.

Stop with the personal attacks please.

Do you really believe that Jund wasnt the deck in majority at the 5k? Do you honestly believe that in all 7 matches to get top 8, not a single elf deck wound up going against a jund deck? And when they did they just got lucky draws because in playtesting Jund beats Nissa Monument easily, even though you have no idea the decklists of Nissa Monument yet?

That is what you believe? Just asking to clarify

    Does it matter..

The point is that everyone is saying "Oh, Nashville was Jund dominated metagame."

There's no numbers to back this up.. whether it's likely or not. He says he tested a Nissa build against Jund, and it's not a roll. So debate that. Do some testing yourself, but you can't just wave a stick at the 5k.

It's funny how people still don't understand how to use internet sarcasm. Plus, this is just a dumb post, and I'd consider it spam. It's a 1U Draw a Card at sorcery speed. Now their land is an Island. Guess what? They have other land.

    Cascade denial says hi.

Convincing Mirage and Spreading Seas are very much under the radar, and the deck is pretty solid.

Except you can't freeze out their mana and when they attack with 4-5 creatures, it's tough to block them all. I'll have to test it out, but Elves is a terrible deck to play mana denial against.

    D'oh!

Yeah, mana dorks are rough. I totally blanked on that for some reason.

I agree, I think this was the deck needed to make the format stop and think. I mean look at that top 8...No Boros, no Vampires and a very small amount of Jund...makes you wonder where the decks placed for the day.

I still can't seem how this is beating Jund. Can someone explain?

Blightning looks good on their planeswalkers.
    Pulse their Planeswalkers or Chosens.
    Run over with Broodmates.

Does it just pump out too many threats?

Anyone been testing the Nissa Elves matchup?

Esper version looks like it's got a really good shot at it - Mirage or Seas their Oran-riefs, chump with Kathari Remnants. They don't run removal, so just sit back and let Sigil of the Empty Throne do the heavy lifting.

T1 : mountain, goblin guide and swing for 2
T2 : plains, play hellspark elemental and attack.
T3 : mountain, play hell's thunder and attack.
T4 : plains, unearth hellspark, kick in a bushwhacker and attack.

Note that this scenario probably isn't going to happen - who runs Hell's Thunder? Seiously, replace every instance of "plains" with "mountain" and you have the RDW curve.

Realistically though, Boros gets there with landfall beats. It does commit to the board (geopede rather than hellspark), so the only thing to really play around is Day of Judgement.

you know you are 2-for-1-ed? and you wanna bolt the t1 Llanowar Elves. you wanna bolt Elvish Archdruid. you wanna bolt GSS. you wanna bolt Garruk. you wanna bolt Nissa's Chosen/Beast tokens in response to Oran-Rief activations. you are not going to have enough bolts.

Not enough bolts? That's what Burst lightning is for!

I do see that is a 2 for 1, but Jund could freaking blightning Nissa. Then who's 2 for 1'd?

yea my friend went 7-2 playing boros and lost to the chick playing mono-green elves. that deck is sick.

Damn. I would think Boros would run enough spot removal to beast that matchup. Skyfishers also fly in..

My current Elf deck with Niss and garruk until the new sets come out:::: I just put this deck together like 30 minutes ago. Taking suggestions! :-D. Thanks.

    Creatures:
    X3 llanowar elves
    X4 cylian elves
    X4 Nissa's chosen
    X4 baloth woodcrasher
    X4 dauntless escort

    Plainswalkers:
    X2 Garruk wildspeaker
    X2 Nissa revane

    Spells:
    X4 primary bellow
    X2 overrun
    X3 khalni heart expedition
    X4 harrow
    X4 vines of vastwood

    Hm.

GW does get you the Dauntless escort.. but I'd say that woodcrasher and cylian elves are really subpar choices. I'd prefer the Elvish Visionaries and Archdruids. The ramp (Khalni and Harrow) are unnecessary with archdruids.

I think this is a really cool list, especially in the low counterspell metagame.

Silence does seem underwhelming - did you consider Meddling Mage or Ethersworn Canonist instead?

With all the fatties, I'd be tempted to run Master Transmuter as well.

    Seems alright.

I mean, the deck just doesn't scream "Top 8 potential" to me.. and it has so little removal..

I don't see how this can beat out Control builds running Day of Judgment, or heck, even decks running LIGHTNING BOLT.

Oh you play Nissa? Okay, make your Elf Dude, then bolt her.

I bet stag helped this to shoulder through a Jund heavy meta. The Planeswalker engine however is just bonkers with multiple oran-riefs.
