Narset is a sideboard of the UW control in my sig, so in active use. The only thing preventing me from getting one is the thought that I might get her today at 20, then a few weeks later she is 6-7$. My money is not unlimited, and I plan to save as much as possible.

Narset is not likely to go down. We're basically hitting peak supply over the next 2 weeks for War of the Spark. After that, it'll be a slow upwards climb. Unless the mulligan rule some how shifts people off of the card, she's here to stay. Annoyingly so (I only play Storm these days regardless of the format. So she can get bent :p)

A stupid as it may sound: If they would need to ban 1-2 cards in Modern to make the game overall enjoyable for everybody else, why shouldn't they do it? That ruling is massive for limited (especially for limited) and also very impactful in Standard. Sure, from all formats Modern gets affected the hardest by this (dunno about Vintage) relative to it's powerlevel, so, if it is borderline okay in Modern (in a hypothetical standpoint), why not pull the trigger and in worst case ban 1-2 cards in Modern to increase the overall health of the game?

    Greetings,
    Kathal

FWIW, the London mulligan is hot garbage in Legacy. With many decks, it's akin to stacking your deck which is a thing we really don't need.

Oddly though, I don't mind it much in modern. But it does require you to have a good sideboard and a good plan behind it. Because without it, you'll actually get more non-games as you get hated out and can't deal with it.

I'm confused. Enablers are always what gets banned.

    Top? Enabler
    Probe? Enabler
    DRS? Enabler
    Splinter Twin? Enabler

I mean looking at the Modern banlist, the other things that aren't would be Depths, KCI, Jitte and maybe the artifact lands. Hence why I've always been a fan of SFM coming off the ban list. It's an enabler but a pretty slow one and those aren't problematic. If they were, Lotus Bloom should be punted too and that's just ludicrous.

Wizard's has actually been pretty consistent in going after the enablers. Hence why Lootings, Stirrings and Mox Opal likely garner attention. If there's any decent grave hate in Horizon's though, the irritation of Lootings/Phoenix will drop pretty quickly.

Also on Phoenix, I wonder if it was pushed for Modern. For Legacy, Gavin was upfront that he thought he only had a very outside chance to see any play on the format (via the Leaving a Legacy podcast) but I don't recall if they spoke about it in the context of modern.

I live in a small market, my local shop wont even buy some of the singles I still have, as they know they are too expensive for them to shift in any reasonable amount of time. :p

You're on the island? If you ever want to trek over to the mainland, I could do transport to get you to Magic Stronghold or the like if you really want to sell stuff in person eh.

Meanwhile, I'm all aboard that prices are silly on fetches right now. Arid-flipping-Mesa for over $60CAD? Absurd.

On an entirely divergent note, there's so much Burn floating around I've had to add White to my Storm deck. Timely Reinforcements is a heck of a card to buy you a couple turns to combo.

    So. Much. Burn.

Doesn't matter whether it's in paper or online.

My LGS went from an average of 0-1 Burn players each week, to almost guaranteed 3-5 players each week. Even I (of all people!) sleeved up Goblin Guides and Lava Spikes a few weeks ago (and ran into multiple main deck Thalia and Knight of Autumn, DOH!). I still don't entirely understand why, but I'll happily warp my main decks to deal with it.

It's one of those decks that every modern player around has but doesn't always bring.

I cannot count the amount of people I heard talking about Emma's SCG articles on why Burn is good lately and so everyone's brought it out of the woodwork. And burn never goes away on MTGO either.

Sephon19: There's nothing wrong with Burn mate. It's a good deck. I just mention it from time to time as I pretty much only play Storm in Modern and the last two decks I want to see across from me are Burn and Shadow. So every time the popularity of those rises I tend to squawk about it a bit. So don't mine me eh.

Also, for whatever reason, foils from MM15 are always low. The muiltiplier between foils and not on that set always seems to be smaller then any other barring Karn.

When I nabbed Bitterblossom, Surgicals and Cliques, the foils were actually cheaper. Cryptic always seems to have a low multiplier from that set as well.

It's foiling is VERY dark, one of the worst by far that I've seen/own.

Yes, this is definitely the case. Not only do they look worse than other foils, I hold the opinion that they look considerably worse than nonfoils from that set. I own several foils from there and regret getting all of them.

Yeah, that's fair. I actually didn't notice at first as I don't have anything from MM15 other then foils. But they are close to the worst foils for the art popping off the card I've got.

I'm curious why Mr. Ross was at Wizards and then not so quickly. It could be a million things and any random reason. Just nosy.

I wish they'd be more willing to unban cards like what they did with GGT to test the format to see if it can handle it. If anything they can do what they did it GGT and just ban it again if it ever becomes too much

    Ick.

Can you imagine the firestorm if Twin was unbanned long enough that new and old people picked up the deck and foiled it out only to have a "oops, this needs to go away again" 6 months or a year later? Ick.

Ugh,this sucks. I only need Mox Opals and EE's to finish KCI, OR, I could throw down ~$200 for arclights and manamorphose to do UR phoenix. On one hand, I just spent 150 bucks throwing together the supplementals for KCI, and goldfishing with it has been surprisingly fun. On the flip side, I reaaaally don't want to spend 400 on opals just to see KCI hampered come the next B&R. What a fantastic dilemma..... Bans suck Frown

Well, if it's any solace, if you do pick up the Opals and are willing to get some Chalice's and Force of Will's you have the makings of a solid Legacy deck that's been putting up results lately vis a vis Antiquities War.

So browing through the major sites, some of the preorder prices are just dumb. I mean I was going to wait anyways to pick up singles for a bit, but after seeing the starting prices and how slowly the major places drop their prices, it's going to be awhile.

    5) Allied Fastlands: Okay, call this baseless speculation to some degree, but if they make a Nordic / Ice Age set they could easily fit them into the set without having to revisit New Phyrexia. Blackcleave Cliffs can reference volcanic territory where lava has created beds of blackened igneous rock, or refer to some major hero of villain of the north that earned the name "Blackcleave". Seachrome Coast can easily refer to a glacier or frozen beachhead.

Pure speculation: With Karn picking up the Sylex in the Dominaria story line, I think we're going to see Phyrexia pretty soon. And I don't see how they do a Phyrexia set without the fast lands as reprints.

Though even if that's right, how soon is "soon" is anyone's guess.

Some of them, absolutely. I'm certainly happy that Runed Halo will come down. Cards that are up there due to a single printing seem to annoy me on principle.

I kind of cackled at Back to Basics. That's going to be just like True-Name in Battlebond. The base card will be a reasonable price the a foil is going to well up there. At least until all the Miracles and Stoneblade players get their copies.

So with the stupid high price, and no idea for the print run, just best guess. Will this do anything to the price of OG Tarmogoyf? I have been eyeing a set, but this is new art, and I can't tell if the otheroriginal might drop because supply is supply, or what?

Unlikely. OG printings are always more and that goes double for funky frames.

I'd be waiting on Cavern's as well if you're purchasing them from a store. They've dropped $10 from the annoucement yesterday but I doubt they move anyone until pre-orders go up for singles and the rest of the set is spoiled in 3 weeks or whatever it is. Store's will want to get maximum value whilst they can.

    Greetings,

I just wanted to double check with some people who have the rules down better then I do.

There's a Thing in the Ice on the battlefield with 1 token left on it. The player then casts Temur Battle Rage on it to remove the last token. Is the end result

    A: A flipped card that's a 7/8
    B: A flipped card that's a 7/8 with double strike and trample?

Thanks for your time and assistance!
