So has our game plan changed? Are we holding back threats more so as to not over extend?

Feb 11, 2019Ok, everyone. I've been fortunate enough to be able to invest more time and money into constructed, and am thinking about picking the deck back up. I have always been fond of our little blue swarm; the benefits of starting at 20 life vs 15, having 70% of a Legacy deck, and quick games are all upsides I really appreciate. I do have some questions though:Posted in: Aggro & Tempo
1) Is the UG variant dead?
2) How is Master of Waves in the current meta?
3) How are we overall, currently?
I have been debating between Fish, D&T, and UR Phoenix and just want some opinions before I jump back in.
Feb 11, 2019Hello, all!Posted in: Aggro & Tempo
I have recently been looking to delve back into modern, and I am an aggro player at heart. I was a diehard merfolk player for a long time, but I am currently opening myself up to look into other decks as well, and UR Phoenix seems like a good contender. I was hoping some of you could answer a few questions for me:
1) Are there any good video primers/matches on YT that I should check out first?
2) Is there a possibility that anything in the deck sees a ban? If so, how hard does that hit the deck?
3) Can this deck translate to legacy? That was always a selling point of merfolk for me; investing in merfolk also invested into the legacy deck as well.
Any insight is greatly appreciated!
Feb 7, 2019Hello, everyone! I'm a former merfolk player who has been out of Modern for a few years, and I am kind of enamored with D&T. I will slowly try to get through some of the more recent pages of the thread, but can anyone recommend streams or YT playbacks to study?Posted in: Aggro & Tempo
Feb 1, 2019I also have a +1/+1 counter-focused Atraxa deck, but since it's built around a non-mtg theme, I won't delve into specifics or power level choices, but I'll give some of my thoughts...Posted in: Multiplayer Commander Decklists
- Gavony Township
- Elspeth, Sun's Champion is just really good utility.
- Since my build is a little different, I'm not sure about how they will perform for you, but the +1/+1 counter lords were a little lackluster for me. The same can be said for Bred for the Hunt, though I have not actually tried it myself and am now curious.
Jan 11, 2019Just won the most RIDICULOUS victory ever. Me (Atraxa, Praetors' Voice) vs Kynaios and Tiro of Meletis (KT) vs Kaalia of the Vast (KV) vs Oona, Queen of the FaePosted in: Commander (EDH)
KT: Plays Open the Vaults to get back a bunch of enchantments and Hive Mind. They then cast Enduring Ideal.
Oona: Responds with Cyclonic Rift because they forgot about the Hive Mind. All that happens.
Me: grabs Hadana's Climb because I was afraid of an Oblivion Ring.
Oona: Erebos, God of the Dead
KT: Paradox Haze. Pass turn.
KV: Get's Oblivion Ring on the Paradox Haze. Pass turn.
Oona: Dictate of Erebos. Pass turn.
Me: Dawn of Hope. Pass turn.
KT: Solitary Confinement. Pass turn.
Oona: Black Market. Swing with Erebos at me. EOT, I make three tokens with Dawn of Hope.
Me: Greater Good. Pass turn.
KV: Out of enchantments
Oona: Dismiss into Dream. EOT, I make three more tokens.
Me: Journey to Eternity On the token that was pumped with Hadana's climb. I sack it to Greater Good. JtE comes back, transformed, as Atzal, Cave of Eternity. I discard three creatures, including Knight of Autumn. Pass turn.
KT and KV: Inconsequential
Oona: Opposition. Pass turn. EoT, I bring back Knight of Autumn to blow up Dismiss and make two more tokens.
Me: Beastmaster Ascension. Swing out to turn on the Ascension and kill Oona; the other two scoop.
