StP is one of my favorite commander cards. If you are playing it in a Zombie deck, I would pick something with zombie synergies in the set or something that just has a bunch of creatures. The latter I've found Masters and Core sets to be really good for, but any set that was designed to be drafted would be good to. The best is when you open a set that has something like Archaeomancer, which will get your StP back for you to use again.
The middle-ground between zombies and value though would probably be Innistrad (Liliana, Snapcaster, etc) or Amonket (Invocations)

Incorrect. You sacrifice Rhonas as a cost and put Vannifar's trigger on the stack. Rhonas then triggers and gets placed on the stack, which will resolve first. Tuck, then shuffle.

No, she just looks REALISTIC, which I'm a fan of.
Quote from NZB2323 »Quote from genini2 »Assuming 50 cards in library and the card you name having 4 copies in the library your odds of hitting at least one copy with her +1 is about 30%. Of that 30% the odds of hitting 2 or more of the named card is 3%. Barring some kind of Relentless Rats, Persistent Petitioner decks breaking out a 4 mana walker that draws one third of a card each turn it pretty awful. It's not even in the Dimir colors where you can stack the stop of the deck with Surveil and have all the entering the GY from the deck cards that matter.
You could name island, or forest. You could name a god card after it goes third from the top, like zombie Kneft or zombie Rhonas. You can play mission briefing with her. You can play her in a BUG(Sultai) deck. You can do her -3. You can play her to shut down Liliana of the veil.
This isn’t the greatest card ever, but it has plenty of utility.
You name a nonland card.
Feb 25, 2019Hey, everyone! I have been considering delving into Legacy, and since Merfolk is the deck I know best, it only makes sense that this is one of the ones I've been looking at closest. I have noticed a few decks popping up recently with Fetches and a playset of Brainstorms; is this a new tech? Is it the norm now?Posted in: Aggro & Tempo
Feb 19, 2019I would also recommend Wilderness Reclamation so you can play on your turn and your opponents'.Posted in: Multiplayer Commander Decklists
If you like the creature/stompy version: I had a lot of fun playing with things like Overbeeing of Myth and other "hand-size matters"/Maro type creatures since you will tend to have a good number of cards in hand at all times.
Altered Ego is another favorite of mine.
Feb 18, 2019I would agree with Shermanido37; all of the strategies you are dabbling in are fine, but you are diluting them a bit too much.Posted in: Multiplayer Commander Decklists
Also, two cards I found to be staples in my Rashmi deck were Noxious Revival and Reclaim to respond to Rashmi's trigger with.

So has our game plan changed? Are we holding back threats more so as to not over extend?
Feb 11, 2019Ok, everyone. I've been fortunate enough to be able to invest more time and money into constructed, and am thinking about picking the deck back up. I have always been fond of our little blue swarm; the benefits of starting at 20 life vs 15, having 70% of a Legacy deck, and quick games are all upsides I really appreciate. I do have some questions though:Posted in: Aggro & Tempo
1) Is the UG variant dead?
2) How is Master of Waves in the current meta?
3) How are we overall, currently?
I have been debating between Fish, D&T, and UR Phoenix and just want some opinions before I jump back in.
Feb 11, 2019Hello, all!Posted in: Aggro & Tempo
I have recently been looking to delve back into modern, and I am an aggro player at heart. I was a diehard merfolk player for a long time, but I am currently opening myself up to look into other decks as well, and UR Phoenix seems like a good contender. I was hoping some of you could answer a few questions for me:
1) Are there any good video primers/matches on YT that I should check out first?
2) Is there a possibility that anything in the deck sees a ban? If so, how hard does that hit the deck?
3) Can this deck translate to legacy? That was always a selling point of merfolk for me; investing in merfolk also invested into the legacy deck as well.
Any insight is greatly appreciated!
