  • posted a message on "What Deck Should I Play" thread
Regardless of how poorly positioned the decks I love are, I've been playing Skred for nearly 3 years straight. I love the deck and always will, but maybe it's time to finally branch out a bit. I'm only playing at FNM, so I really don't care about building a pile of garbage and running with it. I want something somewhat affordable, so below $1k is where I want to be at. I've made a list of archetypes I'd be down to build. What do you think I should go with?

GW Aggro (Think Watchwolfs and Dryad Militants)
    Some KotR Loam pile
    Death Cloud
    Hierarchless Zoo

I'm kinda leaning towards KotR Loam or Death Cloud.

Most likely, yes. I'll be honest with you, it was a few months ago, and I'm in finals week, so to say that my memory is working properly wouldn't be entirely true.

I own the Jeskai Control primer currently, but it's severely out of date. I would be willing to rewrite it

I should've subscribed to this thread so I get notifications. Please, rewrite it as you see fit!

I don't think that this is playable for us, but if they keep experimenting with this type of effect we're going to see a playable one soon. It's only a matter of time.

Neheb, Dreadhorde Champion, however. Hoo boy.

This card is exactly what we want. While it's a little slow, a 5/4 with trample that gives us ways to get value from our dead cards without requiring us to have little to no cards in hand like Hazoret the Fervent is amazing. We struggle with having dead cards. Neheb directly fixes that. I could write a lot about what this card can do for us, but needless to say, I'm picking these up as soon as I can.

I know that spoiler discussion does tend to overlap many areas, but let's try to stay away from banlist talk in here.

I played Bant/ 4 Colour Knightfall for about 3 years now, I'll send Torp a PM. This deck is not up to date in the primer for sure, I'd be glad to help the community with an update there.
You got it! Can you add me to that PM as well if possible? Thanks!

You should definitely add adnauseam to the combo list, it's a pretty popular deck right now.

I'll see how out of date the primer is.

After dishing out an innumerable number of infractions and warnings, I'm locking this thread for a few days so every can cool off a bit. Come back in a few days when it's reopened to resume discussion.

For the record, just because someone talks about Twin doesn't mean they're breaking the rules. Talking about Twin is not flaming, trolling, misbehavior, or spam. I'm going to start dishing out infractions for abusing the reporting system if it keeps up. Please only report posts that actually break our rules, not ones that have content you disagree with. The presence of Twin in a post is not a qualifying factor for violating the rules, and while posts that do break these rules and contain Twin content certainly exist, the vast majority of reports we've gotten haven't been. This is the first and only warning I'm giving to this thread as a whole.

The short answer is Dragon Skred is different from traditional Skred. They want to do different things, and saying one is bad in comparison to the other is grossly misrepresenting the archetypes. I'll cover more on it in the new primer, but needless to say, Dragon Skred is a lot different and plays a lot differently.

If Zoo/Naya Midrange needs a new primer I’d be honored to write it up.

Talk to the current primer owner and us and we'll get you moving!

I have a good friend of mine who plays a lot of Dragon Skred, and he's a huge proponent of Heart of Kiran in the deck. Turns out, it's a great combination with Sarkhan for few reasons. The first is you never really get to ult Sarkhan anyway. You're not playing to it and usually his plus abilities are better anyway. With that in mind, you can afford to get some extra value out of his counter by crewing a Serra Angel. Secondly, if your opponent attempts to kill Sarkhan with an attack, he's probably dying even if you could block. In that case, why not spend the counter to eat an attacker? I highly recommend you try it. I personally have no experience with the card, but I trust my friend enough to say you should give it a shot.

On a separate note, I have been given control of the Skred primer! I'm going to make a new one because a lot has happened since 2016.

In terms of inactivity, I agree. I wish this thread was more active. It seems our Discord kinda killed this thread, and now that's awfully quiet too. As for the list, you made some interesting decisions. How did GDD perform for you? I've never been impressed with the card but I could see trying it more. I'm also curious about Mind Stone. I've come to the conclusion that you run Magma Jet over Stone, not in tandem with it. How did it perform for you? Lastly, excellent call on giving up on Rabblemaster. It doesn't do what you need it to fast enough. I'd always run Scab-Clan Berserker over it because it hurts so many more decks and packs an equally strong punch, if not stronger. The sideboard to me looks questionable but I can see where you were coming from with it.

Anyone on Dragon Skred recently? I haven't seen anyone talking about it lately.
