Dec 3, 2018Totally true. I remember when I was playing slivers with just 2 copies of Reflecting Pool, and sometimes I was drawing just one land and it was that one, or both of it.Posted in: Deck Creation (Modern)
In this case, running 4 Field of Ruins can help fix that by filtering your deck and turn on Archive Trap.
Also, I was talking with a friend, and I think we both reached that Logic Knot it's better, because of not returning lands to your hand, that can delay a precious cryptic. It can help with crab, but maybe it's not that worth it.
Nov 30, 2018I was trying to do a mill deck as well. Someone who I play with was thinking of doing it too, and gave me some ideas to get it done.Posted in: Deck Creation (Modern)
The deck is, without sideboard for the moment:
DeckMagic OnlineOCTGN2ApprenticeBuy These Cards Lands (22)
3 Field of Ruin
3 Flooded Strand
3 Watery Grave
4 Polluted Delta
4 Hedron Crab
Other Spells (34)
4 Archive Trap
4 Crypt Incursion
4 Devastation Tide
4 Mission Briefing
4 Sanity Grinding
4 Visions of Beyond
4 Cryptic Command
2 Trapmaker's Snare
It's basically a mono-blue deck, with just a tiny splash to black for those creature based decks for Crypt incursion. Even this card works fine against Emrakul, the Aeons Torn.
Sanity Grinding in this deck, can be really powerful, almost like an Archive Trap if we are lucky and get cards with blue mana symbols.
I will run 4 Mission Briefing, just because we are going to play almost all of the cards in our graveyard to mill the opponent. And as I said before, for tron decks that runs emrakuls, even if you get rid of them exiling it, you will have to mill your opponent again since it will shuffle the graveyard to library.
Also, instead of Remand, Deprive would work better in our deck, since we can play lands and get crabs ability to trigger once more on the next turn, or if we didn't played a land yet. Also, with Sanity Grinding would help it with mana symbols.
For sideboard I was thinking on adding more creatures/removal.
Oct 20, 2018Thanks for it, I will add it into the cards section.Posted in: Deck Creation (Modern)
But I think we need more powerful creature if we are not playing along 3 or 4 Worship, with 2 we need more powerful creatures, with hexproof or color protections, at least is what I think.
Sep 19, 2018I was thinking, would Lazav, the Multifarious fit in our decks?Posted in: Deck Creation (Modern)
Most of times we got a lord or another potential creatures that opponent got rid of. It's a shappeshifter, so it will also benefit of +1/+1 from lords.
Jul 22, 2018I liked how it went. I played it last week and it really was nice, I fetched for Zacama, Primal Calamity and played it with Dramatic Entrance, paid the 4 mana on my upkeep, and slam pretty decent. Next turn is just about of cleaning opponents table or winning lifes.Posted in: Deck Creation (Modern)
Jul 16, 2018I was thinking now on Summoner's Pact.Posted in: Deck Creation (Modern)
Fetching and playing both at instant speed on opponents turn it's a very nice play. Mana for prevent losing it's not a problem at all.
I would prefer that one.
Although Summoning Trap would fit better on a sideboard against control decks.
Jul 16, 2018It really wasnt that difficult to have 5 mana. The 10 cards accelerators are basically out on every hand. First mulligan with this kind of decks doesn't really punish you much.Posted in: Deck Creation (Modern)
See the Unwritten I wouldn't be much of a fan. If we look at the cards and we have to put the major of them on the bottom when we need them... It's kind of a collected company, you may have luck and put good creatures, or not. I think it's up to preference of the player.
Jul 15, 2018Today I could test the deck, and I have to say I loved it.Posted in: Deck Creation (Modern)
It was a 4 round local tournament.
1 game: 1-2 vs Kiki-Chord
First game I was outnumbered with tokens of voices. Second game I had bigger threats with trample. Third game I left him at 1 life, no luck finding a Regisaur Alpha or Lightning Bolt, since he got more creatures.
2 game: 2-0 vs U Tron
It was a custom variation of this deck. When he was able to play, I let in a Zacama, Primal Calamity that would wreck his artifacts. Second game he just got flooded.
3 game: 2-1 vs RW Humans
First game, I got wrecked with both thalias in game and a lieutenant. Second game Torpor Orb on 2nd turn did his job and I won easily. Third game ended up in turns, I got 9 mana in game, casted a Zacama, and wrecked one of his swords and wiped out his creatures. I won in the 5th turn.
4 game: 2-1 vs Green Stompy
First game I only started with one land and 2 utopia sprawl. When I managed to enter an elf, he Beast Within my only land. Easy win for him. Second game, I could manage to enter all my big daddies, same for game 3.
Overall: 3-1, 4th out of 14th players. Tomorrow I'll post a list of the sideboard, and what I would like to introduce to it.
Jul 14, 2018For my next game, I'm going to play with Dramatic Entrance.Posted in: Deck Creation (Modern)
The list without the lands is the following one:
I really was missing playing Zacama and Gishath, but because of the white color, in a Ponza shell it wasn't viable.
Then I remembered that I had Dramatic Entrance. As we ramp a lot, we can easily start putting into battlefield the big dinosaurs with instant speed. The only creature that cannot be put into play is Etali, but there are just 2 copies.
I added Anger of the Gods and Lightning Bolts to main for those more creature based decks like humans, as they run much more than us.
What are your thoughts about including Dramatic Entrance letting us play bigger threats?
Jul 10, 2018Looks a nice deck. On 3r turn with luck you can have Goreclaw, Terror of Qal Sisma, Raging Regisaur and Regisaur Alpha.Posted in: Deck Creation (Modern)
A nice hand would be:
2 G/R lands
1 Arbor Elf
1 Utopia Sprawl
1 Goreclaw, Terror of Qal Sisma
1 Regisaur Alpha // 1 Ghalta, Primal Hunger
1 Raging Regisaur //or change this one for another land card, and draw it on 2nd or 3rd turn
Even Ghalta can hit the battlefield on T3 (1 from elf, 4 from Goreclaw, 4 from Regisaur and 3 from Token)
T1 G/R land + Arbor Elf
T2 G/R land + Utopia Sprawl + Goreclaw, Terror of Qal Sisma
T3 with 5 mana + 2 reduction for regisaurs or alpha + ghalta, we play them and attack with all of them, except alpha, striking for 13 damage with trample with both regisaurs or 18 with trample with ghalta.
Jul 5, 2018My deck will play 26 creatures, a nice number though.Posted in: Aggro & Tempo
Some time ago, when I played them, I had Eidolon of Rhetoric main card, so, basically I was playing a creature on my turn, a counter on their and vial into another creature. And that was the end of their turn, literally, unless they attacked of course. First I'm going to test it like this, and see how it goes.
Jul 5, 2018Well, I'm bringing a deck based more on tempo, delaying opponents moves with Remands and Cryptics, drawing a spirit and if able to play them with Aether Vial.Posted in: Aggro & Tempo
Paths and Nebelgast Heralds will delay more creature based decks on tapping and exiling them before attacking.
DeckMagic OnlineOCTGN2ApprenticeBuy These Cards Lands
4 Aether Vial
4 Path to Exile
2 Cryptic Command
4 Mausoleum Wanderer
4 Supreme Phantom
4 Spell Queller
4 Drogskol Captain
2 Selfless Spirit
2 Nebelgast Herald
2 Geist of Saint Traft
4 Leyline of Sanctity
2 Damping Sphere
1 Eidolon of Rhetoric
2 Kataki, War's Wage
2 Detention Sphere
Yesterday I tried the Bant version, with 4 birds (haven't got nobles yet), 3 Permeating Mass and 4 collecteds. Even if I played them with nobles, it didn't feel that good that I felt some time ago with the UW version.
IMO, permeating mass wasn't doing it that great, as there are humans, affinity, and if there are other creatures with counters, you are basically helping them, since most of them are 1/1, which they will become 1/3 with massive counters, making their toughness even bigger.
Jun 30, 2018Today was the GP in Barcelona.Posted in: Deck Creation (Modern)
My deck list was the one posted before, but I'll post here again:
First match-up: Humans (1-1, Draw)
First game I was wrecked.
I remember entering from sideboard 4 paths, 1 queller (sorry, i almost not remember what I got out on any matches)
Second game I was able to combo with Felidar + Saheeli.
Third game we ended in turns with no one victorious.
I have to say, that I was playing with a blind player, if he weren't, game would go much faster and would win me.
Second match-up: Ponza (2-0, win)
Quellers in both matches gave me the game. First game I comboed him with Felidar + Saheeli.
Second game I entered Qasali and Thragtusk. I ended up beating him by damage without combo.
Third matchup: Vizier (2-0, win)
First game my opponent gained infinite lifes thanks to vizier + kitchen + the creature that scries when you sac a creature. I comboes him thanks to Altar of the brood and double felidars.
Second game I entered gaddocks, paths, queller. I combed him with felidar + guardian. Quellers were a nice way to stop their combo.
Fourth match-up: Little zoo (Win 2-1)
First game I got a land, birds and oath. Thought was good since I got 2 mana plus something to speed up searching them. Lost.
Sideboard was pretty much the same as vizier plus rest in peace for reliquari. Second match rest in peace delay a lot him and I could combo him with altar. Third game quellers did their job and I could combo him with restoration angel and kiki-jiki.
Fifth match-up: Saheeli (lose 1-2)
First game got stucked with lands, but he didn't know what I was playing. He comboed me fast with saheeli + felidar.
Second game I entered paths and queller. I could queller some pieces and I was able to combo him the same way.
Third game I got saheeli on game on T2, but on T3 from him got Fiery Justice and killed my saheeli and lotus cobra. From there on I couldn't draw anything good. Shame because I was going to combo on my T3.
Sixth match-up: UW control (loss 0-2)
Couldn't do much against him. Once I had my creatures prepared to combo, or before them with rampagers, I got them on the bottom of my deck with Terminus on both games. Jace mindsculptor and gideon of trials got their games.
Rest in peace for logic knot, casters, gaddocks for cryptics and it's high mana costs... but none was saw. Easy for him.
Seventh match-up: UW control (win 2-0)
First game was really close, I got on T2 altar of the brood and could mill some important cards. I manage to get a felidar on game. Later on I could manage to bait him with a Medling mage to get it countered and enter the second felidar. Won it but was tough since he got a jace and teferi on game.
Sideboard the same as last match. I could manage this time to get rip, in game. I entered saheeli soon and with some creatures to put some pression. Late game I could manage to bait him again to counter my gaddock so I could eldritch my medling mage to a felidar guardian, which gave me the game.
Eigth match-up: BR (win 2-1)
First game I was able to win thanks to Altar of the brood, even after some inquisitions and the red creature that discards his hand and draws three.
Second game I sideboarded spell queller, rest in peace. I got overwhelmed with young pyromancer and lingering souls. Totally blowed.
Third game I entered the paths. I was able to go a bit fast, and ended comboing with saheeli + felidar.
It was my first GP I ever played, and I left with a very nice feeling on how it went, even I didn't entered for Day 2.
I really like how the deck went. Altar of the Brood came just dandy, letting me comboing with a way almost anyonedidn't expected. They had to get both felidar and read them since they didn't believed it went infinite milling, was funny.
Also, including the quellers gave me a lot of games. They are just awesome exiling almost everything playable in modern protecting our pieces. I really recommend them.
