Sylvan Advocate is a solid creature. Not a staple, but it'll always be a fine critter to resolve.
I preferred Magic when it was a spell-dominant game, but having good creatures is fine too.

Dec 12, 20174-mana wraths are pretty critical for control to be able to effectively stabilize against aggro in this format. They're pretty much all staples, IMHO.Posted in: Cube Card and Archetype Discussion
I'm not sure about a movie, but my favorite post-apocalyptic story is The Stand.

The Vivids can sometimes be a little oppressive in a draft environment that can so easily promote five color planeswalker control, but they are a great way to solve fixing problems without taking up ten slots, which is especially important as the cube gets smaller. They are the first cycle I'd cut if my drafts started leaning that way, but the first cycle I'd add if I felt like I didn't have enough fixing.
Man, this summarizes my thoughts on the Vivid Lands perfectly. Couldn't have said it better myself.
Quote from calibretto »I'm more intrigued by the Polukranos to Tireless Tracker swap. I didn't think you were a big fan of Tracker.
I'm not. But I'm also not high on Polukranos. I realized how many of green's 3-drops play better as functional 4-drops/5-drops and figured that would be the best place to shave cards from the curve. I wanted a card that could get both a bigger body and generate card advantage as the game progresses, and Tracker fir the bill. I should give it a fair shake at this smaller size to see how it'll do; all the cards that it has the most synergy with will show up with greater regularity. It's a pretty exciting card with Loam/Excavator/Crucible.
Dec 11, 2017I like Nighthawk still. It's in a good spot in the curve, and it's one of the few black creatures that plays well in slower midrange decks and control decks. Plus, black is always happy with the incidental lifegain.Posted in: Cube Lists
Damnation/Languish are both critical for control, Void is great in aggro, and Abyss is a good Stax engine.
Some of these cuts were quite hard, but the fixing is more important, IMHO.

I think this is my ranking as well. The 4cc sweepers have just proven to be too important (even at a smaller cube size) and Identity has been a bomb.
Dec 11, 2017Most of the changes are good.Posted in: The Cube Forum
I'd keep Woe Reaper and leave Landing out.
I'd find room for Angel of Invention, but I'd find a different cut and keep Exalted Angel.
Smash to Smithereens should stay, but Abrade should also come in.
I think both Needle and Spyglass should be in, 100%.
I'd keep Everflowing Chalice.
The rest of the changes either look good, or involve cards I don't care about either way.

1) I don't think I will be able to find an The Abyss or Moat, would the Magus' be a acceptable replacement for them.
2) I have never played with the Mox's in a cube, my cube almost directly reflects your own. What is the benefit for adding them? What would I be losing if I exclude them?
1. Probably not. I'd just run something completely different instead.
2. Powerlevel increase. Not sure how else to explain it. Moxes are good. If you lose them, you should probably cut all the other top-tier cards, because I think you should be all or nothing when it comes to broken stuff.
Quote from allred123 »The random card of the day with the made me realize your cube runs all 5 swords still. Our cubes are now the same size, Even though mine is not powered so I have a few more spots, Did you consider chopping any of them During the great Shrinkage?
Dec 10, 2017Probably one of the lesser Swords on average, but it has some insane ceilings. Still a great card, and not near the block for me.Posted in: Cube Card and Archetype Discussion
There are a ton of cards I wish were available as old-frame foils.
