I've had my eye on her, to be honest she seems a little medium to me; this would be for a flash list that only has 4 snaps 4 quellers 2 clique as the creaturebase, so there is no Geist to protect. Without that she'd be mostly just a Serra Angel with flash

Other than that she fits the bill quite well however; ideally I'd have a 5drop (pushproof but not too expensive) with flash that closes out the game quickly. With Rivals of Ixalan coming up I really hope the legendary blue dinosaur will live up to those standards :p

EDIT In other news I've started updating the OP from the ground up. Instead of adapting it to whatever flavour of jeskai is getting results in this month I am trying to keep it very general information majorly and having a section on subtypes as well, outlining what is doing the best right now without always having to completely redo everything

Any suggestions are highly appreciated: I'm writing the matchups of tier 1 right now which will always be met with disagreement :p

I've been running 23 lands 4 colonnades, it's fine that way. I'm still looking for a good singleton finisher card in the flash lists though; Thundermaw Hellkite has been powerful but has to be boarded out a lot, I've also tried Gearhulk but I am not impressed. I'm trying out Ajani Vengeant now, but I might just make one more room and run 2 Search for Azcanta

Rattlechains is a neat addition but having only Queller as a target is kind of a shame. Just a 2/1 flyer is not really impressive if you don't get the 2 for 1 protection

There is no "problem" per se, but if you'd start from the ground up with building a deck around SFA, would you arrive at Jeskai? Or are you playing Jeskai to begin with and are jamming SFA into that? It'll work in Jeskai just fine, but I think UW is at the least a better starting point.

To not get too philosophical on deck design and staying to the point I would just like to hear this: what is the reasoning to use the jeskai shell for SFA?

Also just to make certain; this is a legit question. I have not tested SFA myself, but my own initial ideas would push me towards trying it in UW. I do not care about winning arguments about the internet, I come here to exchange information

Hey guys, quick question: What's the general opinion about Spell Snare right now? I'm thinking about changing my 2 copies in the Main for 1 Ajani Vengeant and 1 Thundermaw Hellkite, but I'm not sure if that would be a good move (the rest of the list is a pretty stock Jeskai Queller)o)

Well first and foremost you are replacing two one mana spells with a four and five mana spell, that should ring some alarm bells. I also think that Spell Snare is very strong atm and I would recommend running two.

I like SFA but I don't really see a reason to go Jeskai with it; is the burn plan still on the table of you're planning to go that long? I feel like SFA fits better in an UW shell, or maybe Esper.

What I'm looking for in SFA is a way to smooth out the draws in the matchup that are poor for us (Eldrazi, Valakut, Tron) or to win the grindy games (Shadow, other control decks, Abzan/Jund).
Azcanta does that and it's amazing when you're in topdeck mode. I get that the stock version of UWR Queller is relying on geist and burn to close out the game, so it has no interest in azcanta, but for the control version I think that is a valid candidate.

But that does not answer my question; if you plan to go that long, why go Jeskai? I think SFA is much stronger in an UW build, where you are drawing to a more powerful endgame.

I've been on Jeskai since Jund phased out. Never expected it to rise up like this.

Can anyone explain why this has happened?

None of the cards are new. It's not as if Jeskai got a sweet new toy to push itself over the edge.

Well it kinda did in the form of Spell Queller. UWx also became very good because it is strong against the death shadow decks

Yeah two geists really makes it more of a lategame topdeck, where you jam it once you have board control instead of during establishing it. Thundermaw serves the same purpose in the "flash" list, and generally gives the opponent exactly one turn to do something about it. My preferred cantrip suite right now would be 4 Opt 2 SV, but it's tough to fit them in, and snap opt is such a great way to apply pressure I prefer it over SV; SV is killer in any grindy MU though

Not blowing up your own creatures is marginal, we run so few and often board out a bunch against the decks where we want wraths. And one extra mana is way less restricting than STW's timing; I'd play cmc2 swords to plowshares over condemn in a heartbeat and the jump from 1 to 2 is much bigger than 4 to 5

STW also seems like a "gotcha" card to me in that it can never be good enough to see common play since it becomes so much worse one the surprise factor is gone. It's very easy to play around

The Azcanta lists puzzle me - it just seemed so incredibly slow when I tried it. I'll maybe give it another shot.

As to the people using Settle the Wreckage; where is it more useful than other wrath effects? The timing limitation is very significant if you ask me, and if I'd really want an unconditional "exile" effect I'd run Hallowed Burial. One mana more seems way better than the timing restriction and ramping the opponent 2-3 lands.

On the topic of Geist; I've been going lower on Geist as well, trying both a 2-2 geist clique split and a list without any geists, instead running one more electrolyze and a Thundermaw Hellkite. I've liked this a lot

(and -2 Geist +1 Hellkite +1 Lyze in the other list).

    I have 3 geists 1 clique mainboard, I've thought about going 2-2

Another card I've been trying out is Thundermaw Hellkite, partially because I think it is good right now, partially because it's a big awesome lightning spewing dragon

I've been trying out two relic for a while and I've found them to be very medium. With Logic Knot stopping me from running Rest in Peace, I leave my gravehate to a single Surgical Extraction

Against Storm I think it is sometimes correct to just slam geist and pray, but it is dependant on your hand. The longer you wait the bigger the odds are they got what they need, and waiting until turn 5 when you can geist with knot backup is not that much better as you give them more time to draw remand or gifts.

@MrEyeHoles, you have too few wincons. Next to that, it's always difficult for an outsider to adapt a deck when you know the meta and I don't, but I think Flashfreeze is too weak of a card, and 4 Cryptics is too many.

The list is of Mathias Eskildsen top8 at Danish Modern Masters 2017 - Fall Edition 106 Players...

Anyway, what list do you play and how do you side Vs Tier1?

I will always stand by it that many lists run too few wincons, it's just my style of playing I think. Gaining board control and then losing the game to not having any pressure is just an awful feeling and what I see as one of the biggest weaknesses for modern control decks as there simply is no real 'catch-all' wincon for us.

I think it's best to put it like this; affinity has a ton of hands that get crushed by us and a few that are really strong versus us, whilst we have a ton of hands that crush then and a few that are too slow

Stony isn't necessary as we absolutely crush affinity, but I do like to run a singleton as it's a good one-of versus vial decks and does a lot of splash damage versus smaller archetypes
